Autumn arrived beautifully. We are in a flood of color and visitors. Vermont is a destination to celebrate the change of seasons. Tilting is offering a special show from September thru December for Gunter Korus who passed on in August at 96. Due to Covid’s increased numbers in Vermont, a typical show is not possible. But please feel free to come see what a master produced in his life of creativity and beauty.

WE ARE ALL READY FOR SPRING!!!

It has been a long winter and a long 2020.  The gallery is transforming from winter to spring and it feels uplifting to see flowers outside and inside.  Green is such a comforting color.  The featured piece……

A FEW GOOD WORDS….oil on linen….40″ x 48″

was my therapy painting for last years’ frustrations.  Each night I would add a couple (if time permitted) words that gave me peace of mind and hope for daily life incorporating many of them rather than continued hostility and anger.

Spring brings rejuvenation and possibilities that we can’t even imagine.  Looking forward to a wonderful  year ahead and to your visits!

A. HALE JOHNSON SOLO SHOW

A. HALE JOHNSON SOLO SHOW SATURDAY, OCTOBER 10TH
After 48 years in Tilting
and many solo shows,
this one will be like no other.
Hale is unable to attend and with Covid
I feel that a typical opening
is not suitable to the times.
It is a challenge to maintain social distancing
inside the gallery eating tasty morsels
with many people.
The show will start the weekend of
Columbus Day and last into the holiday season!
It is a sad decision
But I believe a wise and safe one.
Appointments are encouraged.
Masks are requested during your visits. Please call 802-362-3022
Thank you for your patience.

An exquisite painting created with a few articles that symbolize the thoughts and dreams at the time. It is a perfect reminder of the meaning behind the FOURTH. We are very fortunate people and with careful attention the future can be a place that was dreamed about while creating our INDEPENDENCE.

X SONG JIANG

Greetings from Tilting on Father’s Day!

Today I wish to share an amazing artist that I am proud to have as part of Tilting at Windmills Gallery, X Song Jiang. His style and unique ways to create his oils is most compelling.

Throughout his early career, Song has received numerous awards as one of the representatives of Chinese paintings with works displayed at international art exhibitions in the United States, Japan, Hong Kong, Turkey, and Singapore. He also had the honor of having four representative works collected and preserved at the National Art Museum of China (NAMOC) and three works at the Jiangsu Provincial Art Museum.
In 1988, Song immigrated to Canada and invested a passion for its vivid scenes of the broad North American landscape. While there, he traveled widely from coast to coast and gained some 20 years of experience forming his unique style of a mixture of brush and knife with attention to the unique natural detail, richer handling of light, shadow and depth in each piece, which has won him numerous awards in North American exhibitions and art festivals.
He now lives by the lake in Toronto, Canada with his wife and son. He is influenced by the beautiful land and friendly people. Through his paintings, he wishes to express his love to the North American landscape and all its people.

Enjoy the following video. You will be very impressed.

PAUL BATCH IS BLOG ARTIST TODAY!!!!

Why did I seek out Paul Batch's art for Tilting's walls. Because I adore his trees and subtle landscapes. He is a young artist that is very productive and succeeding in a challenging career with a young family to care for at the same time. Quite a juggle! Paul's work has been enjoyed and collected for almost a year from Tilting's walls. I am in love with his pine trees as I grew up under one that I can still hear the wind passing thru the branches and the sound it makes. Thank you Paul for bringing that to me mind. Following is Paul's bio and a wonderful video for your viewing. Paul Batch Bio Paul Batch is a contemporary painter praised for his evocative atmospheric landscapes. His paintings are a poetic response to the fleeting and ephemeral light cast by the passing sun or rising moon. He focuses on transitions, painting various times of day, changing weather, and the rich seasons New England offers. “My work reflects the tone and qualities offered by nature. I strive to convey a felt experience through my art. Though most of my work is representational, I keep myself open to embracing the more abstract elements of each individual scene.” Paul received his BFA and MFA from the Hartford Art School where he studied under the late great Stephen Brown. He is an award-winning member of Oil Painters of America and Portrait Society of America. His work has appeared in numerous publications including the Artist’s Magazine, International Artist and Fine Art Connoisseur. A native of Massachusetts, Paul resides in Massachusetts, with his wife and their two children. SOON THE DOORS WILL OPEN AGAIN. STAY TUNED. Please call for virtual tours and simple questions. Thank you and be well. Terry Contact Us Email tilting@tilting.com Phone 802-362-3022 Address 24 Highland Ave Manchester Center, VT 05255
