Biography

Al barker was born in Paterson and was raised in Upper Monclair, New Jersey. While living in the metropolitan area, Al spent a great deal of time in the outdoors which influenced his decision to study and eventually become a professional forester and teacher. As a full time artist, Mr. Barker's concentration in graphics, oils, and acrylics are the direct result of his extensive travels throughout the United States. Mr. Barker's past professional teaching experience has enabled him to spend a goodly amount of time in the field of studying nature, and his keen interest in his environment encouraged a predominantly earth-colored palette. His concern for the natural environment is reflected in his work by the subject matter of sporting scenes which reflect a "time and place" factor, whereby, when one looks at his work they say to themselves, "I've been there and seen that..."
