Born in China, Q was trained in both China and Japan. Her art has evolved from her immersion in Eastern traditions and, in turn, from her life in rural Western Massachusetts. Q’s artistic vision reaches back in time to vistas of misty mountains and rain-freshened lotuses, yet her New England years have infused her with a second nature—maple-lined roads, lichened stone walls, and weathered barns. As she continues on her path of Zen and Tao (Taoism), her lines grow simpler and her brushwork more expressive. Q’s paintings have been purchased by the New Hampshire Art Institute and several Boston hospitals, among others. Media: Mineral color, acrylic, rice paper, and canvas. The red block prints—square or round—on some paintings are her signatures.
