Biography

“Most of the artworks are inspired by nature. I incorporate mica into all that I create. Mica is a beautiful transparent crystal I get from a mine in New Hampshire. I love it. My paintings are mostly about my sculpture. They all have mica in the work, with layers of collage made from handmade papers and collagraph prints that I have painted on. I enjoy giving new life to my older work, and I especially like that they reflect the family feeling.” Ruth Rodman is a contemporary Boston sculptor and printmaker who has exhibited her work throughout the United States and Europe. Her original prints have been featured in numerous special exhibitions, including shows at the Associated American Artists in New York and the New York State College Museum. She has also exhibited regularly with The Boston Printmakers. In addition to her printmaking, Rodman has explored sculptural forms made from unique materials, including bronze combined with forton and fiberglass, creating works suitable for both indoor and outdoor installations. Rodman’s art is held in several public collections, including: The Worcester Art Museum The Honolulu Institute of Fine Arts The Boston Public Library The Minneapolis Museum of Art The New York Public Library The New York Graphics Society She has also been commissioned to create original prints for prominent publishers, including the Bowle Hopkins Gallery in California, John Szoke Graphics in New York, and the New York Graphics Society.
