Biography

Ashleigh Scully is an accomplished young nature photographer, fifteen years of age, with a deep passion for wildlife conservation. Based in New Jersey, she has traveled extensively across the United States to capture her images — with favorite destinations including Wyoming, Florida, and Alaska. A rising high school sophomore, Ashleigh donates many of her photographs to several notable nature and wildlife preservation organizations and has presented on a variety of conservation topics. Her artistic goal is to produce images that capture the emotions of America’s native wildlife — offering glimpses into individual and family behaviors that are rarely seen. Her favorite subjects include red foxes, brown and grizzly bears, and all species of North American owls. Through her photography, Ashleigh hopes to inspire empathy, respect, and a greater appreciation for all living creatures. Recognition and Achievements Ashleigh’s work has earned recognition from many of the world’s most prestigious photography competitions, including: Wildlife Photographer of the Year – London’s Museum of Natural History Por el Planeta – National Geographic Nature’s Best Youth Wildlife Photographer of the Year She is also a two-time winner of the Yellowstone Forever Youth Wildlife Photography Competition, which celebrates the best imagery of Yellowstone National Park’s landscapes and wildlife. Her photography has been featured in National Geographic Kids and Wild Planet Photo Magazine, among other wildlife-focused publications. Her work has been exhibited in London’s Natural History Museum, the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History in Washington, D.C., and in galleries and museums across more than 70 countries. Ashleigh is currently working on her third self-published book — a children’s story titled Growing Up Great Gray, chronicling a young Great Gray Owl’s first year in the Tetons.
