STEP BACK IN TIME

Announcing a great show……
STEP BACK IN TIME

A SILENT AUCTION is taking place
Saturday……October 7
ALL DAY
Bidding ends at 5 PM
To note……..Bidding has commenced due to many not being able to attend.

Novel and unique to Tilting’s history, we are presenting a show of 30 period originals from the known Dorset Painters and a few others that you will recognize. As many have experienced, two collectors find the need to disperse of their private collections. I am finding this an interesting experience as I live near the homes of many of these past creators. Plus many stories have been shared regarding past associates and relatives who enjoyed being taught by many of these artists.
Arthur Jones was taught by a Dorset Painter and went on to teach one of the artist in the show (now deceased) how to paint. So many connecting links that it has be fascinating. I do hope you stop in to view the show. Bids have started and can take place beforehand because many are unable to attend the show in person. I will call if bids are topped. I do hope you enjoy the show and if you would like to see a pdf of what is available

A TRIBUTE TO SEAN HUNT FOUNDER/CREATOR OF TILTING AT WINDMILLS GALLER

Announcing
The Celebration of Life
for Sean W Hunt
Founder of Tilting at Windmills Gallery
July 20, 2023
5PM – 7PM
Sean Hunt passed away peacefully at his home in Sun City West, Arizona on August 22, 2022 at the age of 82. He was born in Montgomery, Alabama to Winona Bell Hunt and John Pinkson Williamson, who predeceased him.

Sean served on active duty in the US Navy aboard the aircraft carrier USS Antietam from 1958 to 1960 and thereafter in the Naval reserves until 1964. He attended the University of Florida where he received his BA degree. He went on to study at the Berklee College of Music where he earned a Master’s Degree in Jazz Composition.

Sean was a gifted guitar player who performed with The New Christy Minstrels, Al Jarreau, and was a back-up guitarist for Gordon Lightfoot.

He lived in a number of interesting locales including Sausalito, CA, Palm Beach, FL, Bluffton, SC and Las Vegas, where for a time, he was a blackjack dealer.
Sean moved to Manchester, Vermont in 1971 where he established Tilting at Windmills Gallery with his friend Tom Simmons. Because of Sean’s business acumen, artistic vision, and diligence, Tilting became a well-known destination gallery. He won several awards for gallery and frame shop design (Décor Magazine) and co- authored a book titled “The Art of Creative Matting” with Valerie McClure. He lectured on framing and matting both in the United States and abroad. In 1990, Sean sold the gallery which continues under new ownership.

Sean enjoyed marathon running, having completed the NYC Marathon, The Marine Corps Marathon and the Ultimate Runner. He avidly studied numerology and astrology.

Sean was devoted to his family, and is survived by his daughter Hileary Bell Cleary, his son-in- law Neil R. Cleary, and granddaughters Grace Bell Cleary and Lily Emma Cleary who reside in Downers Grove, Illinois.

Despite having moved to Arizona in his later years, he loved Vermont and the many friends that he left behind.

Thank you Sean
for imagining and creating such a special,
destination gallery that has gifted to each visitor
an art filled memory to savor.

Please email….. tilting@tilting.com

I look forward to sharing the joys of art with you.

Terry
