Full Artist Bio

My artwork comes from a passion for and love of the natural world in which I grew up and extended to other wild places where I have lived and explored over the years.  With family ties in both the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont and the White Mountains of New Hampshire, I spend a great deal of time in the woods, observing and then drawing what I see there.  Growing up in an area of rugged wilderness with a mix of farmlands and small village communities, I developed a strong connection to my natural surroundings.  It has had a direct influence on my decision to focus on painting animals, birds and nature.

I am drawn to create artwork of the wild creatures in our world so we will remember them.  I want my art to remind people of the importance of saving the natural places around us as well as the importance of being a part of them.  I hope my art will inspire people to stay connected to our wild spaces.  In the same ways in which we are drawn to be in the nature around us, I hope you will be drawn into the nature of my art.

I am a self-taught artist who specializes in watercolor paintings of animals, birds and nature with a distinct and original style not commonly found with this medium.  My meticulous attention to detail and illustrative style are the hallmarks of my work.  My work has been accepted to the “Art of the Animal Kingdom”, the “Adirondack National Exhibition of American Watercolors” and the North East Watercolor Society Annual International Exhibition, three prestigious national art exhibitions in New England. I have also exhibited with The Society of Animal Artists. I am a Signature member of the North East Watercolor Society and the Vermont Watercolor Society, an Associate Member of the Society of Animal Artists, The Copley Society of Art and the Women’s Rural Entrepreneurial Network.
